FireFox browser for iPhone? - "Firefox home" The upcoming app from Mozilla

"When I heard the rumor that Mozilla is finally going to release the famous Firefox browser version for the iPhone and iPod Touch I was thrilled. I thought finally Apple has put aside their greed for domination in the mobile phone and mobile application market. But let me remind you dear friend, "Firefox home" is not really a web browser for iPhone!"



Well you can't blame Mozilla for not releasing a Firefox version for the iPhone because there is a "Policy" set by Apple to prevent any challenges from the application developers for the iPhone (Apple prohibits any third-party applications from including their own rendering engine and JavaScript interpreter, according to Mozilla).

In other words if Mozilla wants to release a web browser for iPhone they have to use Apples' web browser engine (and their other technologies) at the core. So basically even if Mozilla releases a web browser for iPhone (following Apples' arrogance) it won't be a Firefox browser, instead a Safari ad-don!

So what is Firefox Home then?, Well "Firefox Home" is more likely an interpreter between your Firefox web browsing data (cookies, history, bookmarks, etc...) on your PC and the iPhone. "Firefox Home" will let you, say import your Firefox browser data to your iPhone. And that's it.

Is it useful?, well it could. For example, let's say you're running to catch your plane (this is the Mozilla example on their blog) you can just let someone upload the Firefox data to your iPhone and use the "Firefox Home" application to convert it so you can use Safari or any other (if there's any) web browser you use on your iPhone to access them!. Even though it's not a Firefox web browser for an iPhone, but it still could be handy.
