Apple iPhone iOS 4 - A consumer review

"Apple iOS4 - Multitasking abilities (to some extend in iPhone 3GS more on later), new look n feel and many other imprevements. Should you upgrade? I'll let you decide."

Since its first arrival on the market iPhone became on of the famous mobile phone brands on the market. Anyhow, apart from the great look n feel (the always unique apple touch) one of the most frustrating things that came with it was its “disabled” ability when it comes to multitasking. While many other “inexpensive” phones included it as a basic feature, apple for some strange reason kept quiet on the issue.

Now just few days before their newest version of the “iPhone 4″, they’ve released the long awaited patch for the older iPhones (soon going to become) and iPod touch which enables the multitasking capability finally!.  The installation of the new iOS4 (with the help of iTunes) wouldn’t take you more than 20 minutes.

Requirements?
Anyone with an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 3G and also few of you who posses the 2nd and the 3rd generation of iPod touch should consider the update of the new iOS4.

New Features

Soon after the booting process “i-people” are now greeted with a unique wallpaper also featuring as a lock-screen which looks really nice. However this is not available for all the iPhone users. Those of you who’s got the iPhone 3GS or the 2nd generation iPod touch: band news. It’s disabled.

Does it work “the multitasking

Yes and NO. Well here it is. Apple has announced that by default popular programs such as Skype,  Pandora (music telecast), GPS tracker (Loopt) will be available while using something else. The reason according to “apple” – by limiting the running applications can conserve more batter for the user.
But in my opinion anyway, the apparent truth is that, “apple” want 100% multitasking enabled default in the new iPhone 4. I mean let’s face it “apple” we paid for the iPhone and who gave you the right to make the decision on saving the battery while not giving the user the “freedom” to choose which app to run and which not to. Does “apple” think that the iPhone users are idiots?. Come on, give an acceptable answer.
Ok back on the review again. The iOS4 shortcuts for multitasking is fairly easy and I’ll just give a brief explanation. When you’ve got an app running, just double-tap the Home button and the screen slides up, revealing a tray of any and all apps running in the background. Tap an icon, and the app that’s currently running will minimize and will be replaced by the app you just choose. When you want to close the app just tap and hold it. That’s it!
There are many other improvements comes with the iOS4 such as home-screen apps, some few features for the camera (images took after the updates look a bit blurry, but I was able to fix it by Syncing again), Bluetooth enabled keyboards, ability to create play-lists on the fly are among the few.
Anyway all in all this is a good response from apple. But limiting the applications (chosen by them) that can be used in multitasking is not acceptable. To download the new iOS4 please follow the link below.
